What Makes This Fish Special?

Laboute's Fairy Wrasses are widely regarded as one of the most beautiful fairy wrasse species available. Their remarkable combination of vivid reds, yellows, blues, pinks, and purple highlights creates a constantly changing display of color as they move through the aquarium.

Males are particularly striking and may intensify their coloration while displaying or interacting with other peaceful wrasses.

Their beauty, active swimming behavior, and reef-safe nature make them one of the most sought-after fairy wrasses in the hobby.

Behavior & Husbandry

Laboute's Fairy Wrasses are active swimmers that spend most of their day cruising through the water column and exploring rockwork.

They are peaceful fish that do well in community reef aquariums and can often be housed with other fairy and flasher wrasses when introduced appropriately.

Like all fairy wrasses, they do not bury in the sand but require a secure lid or screen top, as they are known jumpers.

They thrive in established aquariums with stable water quality, strong oxygenation, and ample swimming space.

Feeding & Diet

Carnivorous and generally easy to feed once conditioned.

What We Feed at Lush Corals:

  • Frozen mysis shrimp
  • Enriched brine shrimp
  • High-quality pellets

In Your Aquarium:
