ABOUT DIASERIS PLATE CORAL
Diaseris Plate Corals are unique, free-living large polyp stony (LPS) corals known for their thin, saucer-like skeletons and vibrant colors. Unlike other plate corals, Diaseris often appear fragmented naturally, creating a beautiful, scalloped look. They are relatively hardy but prefer low placement on the sandbed, where they can move slightly to find ideal conditions. Their unusual shapes and bright hues make them a stunning and rare addition to reef aquariums.
Lighting Requirements for Diaseris Plate Coral
Diaseris Plate Corals prefer low to moderate lighting. They are naturally in deeper reef zones where light is less intense, so they thrive best without strong direct light.
-
Ideal PAR Range:
50–100 PAR -
50–80 PAR is optimal for color, health, and growth.
-
They can tolerate slightly higher PAR if acclimated very slowly.
-
Lighting Type:
-
They do well under LED, T5, or hybrid setups with controllable intensity.
-
Placement Tips:
-
Best placed on the sandbed or in shaded, lower-light areas of the tank.
Water Flow Recommendation for Diaseris Plate Coral
Diaseris Plate Corals prefer low to gentle, indirect flow.
-
Flow Type:
-
Low and indirect flow is best.
-
Just enough to keep detritus from settling on them but not so strong that it damages their delicate tissue.
-
Why It Matters:
Heavy flow can easily tear their thin, fragile bodies or cause them to retract constantly, leading to poor health. -
Placement Tips:
Place them on the sandbed or a very smooth surface where they can move slightly if needed, protected from strong currents.
