Quick Facts

  • Care Level: Easy
  • Temperament: Peaceful
  • Reef Compatibility: Reef Safe
  • Minimum Tank Size: 20 gallons
  • Size: Ranging from approximately 2–3 inches at adult size

Behavior & Husbandry

Purple Firefish are calm, hovering fish that prefer to stay near rockwork or a chosen hiding spot. They are naturally shy and do best in peaceful environments where they are not stressed by aggressive or overly active tankmates.

They are known jumpers, so a tight-fitting lid is essential. Providing rockwork with caves and overhangs will help them feel secure.

Feeding & Diet

Carnivorous and easy to feed once conditioned.

What We Feed at Lush Corals:

  • Frozen mysis shrimp
  • Enriched brine shrimp
  • Small pellet foods

In Your Aquarium:

  • Frozen mysis and brine
  • Small pellets
  • Finely sized meaty foods

They benefit from smaller, frequent feedings to maintain health and coloration.

Compatibility Notes

Best suited for peaceful reef tanks and pairs well with:

  • Clownfish
  • Gobies
  • Blennies
  • Wrasses

Avoid aggressive or highly active fish that may outcompete or intimidate them.

Lush Corals Quarantine & Conditioning Process

This fish has completed our full quarantine and conditioning protocol (minimum 2 weeks) prior to being made available.

During this process, each fish is:

  • Carefully observed and stabilized
  • Proactively treated and monitored
  • Conditioned onto prepared foods
  • Verified to be actively eating and thriving

This extended process significantly reduces stress and increases long-term success, ensuring you receive a fish that is healthy, stable, and truly ready for your reef.

We don’t rush fish to market—every quarantined fish we offer has been given the time it needs to succeed in your aquarium.
