coral ACClimation guide

Always handle the coral by the frag plug to avoid damaging the coral

Adding coral to your saltwater tank is exciting, but it’s important to acclimate them carefully to reduce stress and maximize their chances of thriving. Here's a step-by-step guide:

   1. Preparation Before Acclimation

      ● Turn off your aquarium lights or dim them — corals can be sensitive to sudden, intense light changes

      ● Check your water parameters: Temperature, salinity, pH, and alkalinity should be stable and within appropriate ranges

      ● Have a clean container ready (like a small bucket or bin) and some tank water on hand for later steps

   2. Float the Coral

      ● Keep the coral in its shipping bag or container

      ● Float it sealed on the surface of your tank for 30 minutes to equalize temperature

   3. Drip Acclimation

      ● After floating, open the bag and gently pour the coral and shipping water into your container

      ● Start a slow drip of tank water into the container:

            ● Use airline tubing and tie a loose knot to control flow

            ● Aim for about 2–4 drops per second

      ● Acclimate for 30–60 minutes until the water volume roughly doubles

   4. Inspect and Dip (Optional but Recommended)

      ● Before placing the coral into your tank, perform a coral dip to remove pests and parasites:

            ● Use a coral dip solution (like CoralRx, Revive, or a DIY iodine dip)

            ● Follow the product instructions carefully

            ● Rinse the coral with clean tank water afterward

   5. Placement in the Tank

      ● Choose a low-light, low-flow spot at first — give the coral time to adjust

      ● After a few days, gradually move it to its ideal light and flow conditions

      ● Secure the coral with reef-safe epoxy or glue if needed

   6. Monitor Carefully

      ● Keep an eye on the coral for signs of stress (e.g., bleaching, tissue recession, closed polyps)

      ● Minimize handling over the next few days

      ● Gradually return lighting to normal intensity over 1–2 days

   Quick Tips

      ● Never add shipping water directly to your tank

      ● Keep a soft turkey baster nearby to gently blow detritus off new corals

      ● If the coral looks stressed, don't panic! Minor stress is normal — give it time

ALL Our Corals in the store and farm are growing under Radion G6 Blues with the same light schedules. all we do is adjust the total intensity depending on what corals we are growing in that tanks.
