What Makes This Fish Special?
The Australian Stripey immediately stands out with its bold vertical striping and contrasting yellow coloration. Its unusual pattern gives it an appearance unlike most commonly available reef fish.
Stripeys are active, curious fish that spend much of their time exploring the aquarium and swimming openly, making them highly visible display animals.
They are also known as opportunistic feeders and may pick at algae and small organisms throughout the aquarium.
Behavior & Husbandry
Australian Stripeys are active swimmers and should be provided with ample open swimming space along with rockwork for shelter and exploration.
They are generally compatible with a wide variety of similarly sized marine fish and can become quite confident once established.
Because they grow substantially larger than they may appear when offered as juveniles, long-term aquarium size should be considered when purchasing this species.
Feeding & Diet
Omnivorous and generally adapts readily to prepared foods.
