What Makes This Fish Special?
The Bluestripe Pipefish is one of the most distinctive small reef fish available, featuring an elongated body highlighted by brilliant electric-blue striping.
Biota's captive-bred Bluestripe Pipefish offer an important advantage over traditional wild-caught specimens. Raised in aquarium conditions, they are accustomed to life in captivity and prepared foods, helping eliminate one of the biggest challenges traditionally associated with keeping pipefish.
Their unusual swimming style and tendency to weave through rockwork make them an especially interesting addition for aquarists looking for something different.
Behavior & Husbandry
Bluestripe Pipefish are peaceful fish that spend much of their time exploring rockwork, caves, and protected areas of the aquarium.
They do best in established reef systems with plenty of rockwork and peaceful tankmates. Because they are deliberate feeders, they should not be housed with overly aggressive fish that consistently outcompete them for food.
Stable water conditions and moderate water movement with areas of lower flow are ideal.
Feeding & Diet
Carnivorous and benefits from frequent feedings of appropriately sized foods.
