Behavior & Husbandry

Black Clown Gobies spend most of their time perched on coral branches, rockwork, or other elevated surfaces while watching their surroundings. They are calm, slow-moving fish that do best in peaceful reef environments.

Due to their small size, they are excellent candidates for nano aquariums and smaller reef systems. They may occasionally nip at SPS coral polyps or use branching corals as nesting sites, though many coexist peacefully in mixed reefs.

Providing ample rockwork and low-aggression tankmates will help them feel secure and display natural behavior.

Feeding & Diet

Carnivorous and easy to feed once acclimated.

What We Feed at Lush Corals:

• Frozen mysis shrimp (finely chopped)
• Enriched brine shrimp
• Small pellet foods

In Your Aquarium:

• Small frozen foods
• Micro pellets
• Finely sized meaty foods

Frequent small feedings are beneficial due to their small size and metabolism.

Compatibility Notes

Avoid aggressive or overly active tankmates that may intimidate them.
