What Makes This Fish Special?

The Blue Star Leopard Wrasse is admired for its unique spotted pattern, beautiful blue markings, and constantly changing coloration. Unlike many wrasses, leopard wrasses possess an elegant appearance and graceful swimming style that make them stand out in reef aquariums.

Their peaceful nature allows them to coexist with a wide variety of reef-safe fish, while their active behavior keeps them visible and engaging throughout the day.

Once acclimated and settled, they often become one of the most cherished fish in the aquarium.

Behavior & Husbandry

Blue Star Leopard Wrasses spend much of their day actively searching rockwork and substrate for small prey items. They are peaceful fish that thrive in mature reef aquariums with abundant microfauna and stable water conditions.

A sand bed is essential for this species. Leopard wrasses bury themselves in the substrate for sleeping, protection, and stress relief.

These fish acclimate best in established aquariums with minimal aggression from tankmates and plenty of natural foraging opportunities.

A secure lid or screen top is strongly recommended, as wrasses are known jumpers.
