About Scoly Coral

Scolymia corals, also known as Scolymia australis, are stunning, large-polyp stony (LPS) corals prized for their vibrant, color-rich disk-shaped bodies. These corals often display striking hues of green, red, and orange. Scolys are relatively easy to care for, making them popular in reef aquariums. They thrive in moderate to low light and gentle water flow, making them a great choice for both beginner and experienced hobbyists. Their slow growth and captivating appearance make them a standout in any reef tank.

Lighting Requirements for Scolymia Coral

Scolymia corals prefer moderate lighting. While they can tolerate a range of light intensities, they thrive in areas with indirect or moderate light, mimicking their natural habitat in deeper reef zones.

• 100–150 PAR: Ideal for maintaining vibrant coloration and promoting healthy growth.

Water Flow Requirements for Scolymia Coral

Scolymia corals prefer gentle to moderate water flow. They do best in calm, indirect currents, as strong flow can damage their delicate tissue and disrupt their ability to extend their polyps properly.
