The AquaIllumination Hydra Edge brings together EdgeField™ Optics’ wide-angle output for balanced PAR and maximum coverage with a Solar Ring that creates breathtaking shimmer. With the all-new Solar Blue spectrum, it builds on decades of coral lighting expertise to deliver vibrant color and exceptional growth in your aquarium.
Designed to cover an area of up to 30" x 30" when mounted 9 inches above the water surface, the Hydra Edge provides broad illumination for reef tanks. Aquariums with higher light-demanding corals may require multiple fixtures or a smaller coverage area to ensure optimal PAR levels for their needs.
The Hydra Edge’s ultra-sleek design is as discreet above your aquarium as its light is stunning below, bringing out the best in your tank and its inhabitants. Effortless to mount, easy to clean, and simple to use, the Hydra Edge operates whisper-quiet, thanks to its advanced fan and custom heat sink design. The Hydra Edge will blend seamlessly into your aquarium setup.
Lighting Technology & Performance
EdgeField™ Optics
Optics play a crucial role in any advanced lighting system, and Edgefield™ technology in the Hydra Edge takes this to the next level. It delivers even PAR, seamless color mixing, and exceptional light spread.
Edgefield™ optics provide an impressive 100-degree spread, ensuring optimal light mixing throughout your entire aquarium. The specular exit surface produces a clean, natural shimmer, enhancing the visual appeal of your underwater world.
Solar Blue Spectrum
Drawing on over a decade of experience in coral lighting and insights from hobbyists and professionals worldwide, the Hydra Edge introduces its carefully crafted all-channel output: Solar Blue
With a foundation in full-spectrum lighting and one goal in mind—to closely match natural underwater conditions—the Hydra Edge enhances color channel control, providing a versatile range of options designed to highlight the natural beauty of your corals.
Achieving the Solar Blue spectrum is effortless—set all channels to the same intensity to closely match natural lighting conditions in your aquarium.
Solar Ring
Take control of shimmer and caustics! The Solar Ring redefines aquatic lighting, offering dynamic shimmer that bring your aquarium to life. With individual channel control, you can adjust the intensity to achieve the perfect balance of shimmer and steady illumination.
A dedicated array of white and warm white LEDs, thoughtfully positioned at the center of the AI Hydra Edge cluster. This design maximizes the dramatic impact of your lighting, enhancing shimmer, caustics, and overall visual depth to showcase your aquarium like never before.
The strategic placement, concentration, and optic geometry of the LEDs power the advanced Caustic Engine—driving the mesmerizing shimmer and shine in your aquarium. With full control at your fingertips, you can tailor the effect to your liking. Exceptional shimmer, once exclusive to narrow optics and point-source fixtures, is now reimagined.
HyperDrive Efficiency
A core feature of AI lighting, HyperDrive technology is engineered to optimize both efficiency and flexibility. By transferring unused power from one LED channel to another, it ensures that every watt of available energy is used effectively. This allows you to fine-tune your spectrum with greater precision, tailoring the lighting to your specific needs while maintaining consistent performance across all channels.
Dedicated Moonlight
Just because your aquarium lights are off doesn’t mean there’s nothing to see! A dedicated moonlight channel simulates natural lunar color and intensity allowing you to enjoy your tank inhabitants' nocturnal activities.
Simple Built-in Control
All AI devices include smart control standard. Download the Mobius or MyAI app on any iOS or Android device to easily set up or program your AI equipment. The Hydra Edge is also compatible with the Neptune Systems MXM module for those Apex users that would like to control their light via Apex Fusion.
Available Mounting Options
The Hydra Edge’s advanced mounting system gives you the freedom to tilt and aim the light exactly where it’s needed. Easily direct illumination for optimal tank coverage, minimize light spillage, and eliminate glare for a perfectly tailored viewing experience. (Mounting options are sold separately)
