Red Sea ReefControl Pro Aquarium Controller

The Red Sea ReefControl Pro is an expandable aquarium monitoring and automation controller capable of supporting up to seven interchangeable ReefSense digital probes and sensors. It provides reef keepers with comprehensive, real-time oversight of aquarium parameters while enabling sensor-based control of both Red Sea and third-party equipment.

The Pro controller includes a ReefSense pH and Temperature Probe for immediate monitoring of pH and water temperature. Additional ReefSense probes and sensors can be added in any combination, including multiple sensors of the same type.

Every ReefSense connection uses Red Sea’s universal digital interface. A compatible probe can be connected to any available port without matching it to a dedicated pH, temperature, salinity or ORP input. This makes the system easy to expand and allows future ReefSense sensor types to integrate with the existing controller platform.

When paired with ReefControl Power, readings from attached probes and sensors can automatically switch AC-powered equipment on or off. This allows users to build safeguards and operating rules for heaters, chillers, cooling fans, ozonizers, solenoids, lighting and other aquarium equipment.

Digital Probe Technology

ReefSense probes digitize their readings inside the probe rather than transmitting a low-level analog signal through the entire cable. This helps protect the reading from electromagnetic interference generated by pumps, motors, power supplies and other equipment commonly installed around an aquarium sump.

Probe calibration information is stored within the probe itself. A calibrated probe can therefore be transferred between compatible ReefControl units without requiring a new calibration solely because it was moved. Supported probes also retain calibration history, allowing ReefBeat to monitor probe condition and provide advance notice when a probe may be approaching the end of its useful service life.

Remote Probe Operation

Compatible ReefSense probes can be temporarily disconnected from the controller and used remotely through Bluetooth. With the separately available ReefSense USB-C Connector, a probe can receive power from a compatible USB-C phone, power bank or charger.

This is useful for checking freshly mixed seawater at a mixing station or for cleaning and calibrating a probe near a sink. Temporary remote readings are displayed in ReefBeat without being added to the aquarium’s permanent trend log.
