What Makes This Fish Special?
The Scissortail Goby is unique among gobies for its active swimming behavior and elegant appearance. Rather than remaining stationary on rocks or the substrate, these fish spend much of the day swimming in the water column while staying close to their chosen burrow or rockwork.
Their distinctive forked "scissor" tail, streamlined body, and peaceful disposition make them an attractive and entertaining addition to reef aquariums.
When kept in peaceful environments, they quickly become confident and are often visible throughout the day.
Behavior & Husbandry
Scissortail Gobies prefer aquariums with open swimming areas, rockwork for shelter, and a sandy substrate where they can establish a burrow.
They are peaceful fish that coexist well with a wide variety of reef-safe tankmates and are excellent additions to community reef aquariums.
A secure lid or screen top is recommended, as they may jump when startled.
